Meander the wide woodland paths in native bayou forest
Be surrounded by bird song ....and gentle breezes under ancient
live oaks
The
Garden Guest House Bed and Breakfast, a private guest house with
lovely accommodations, is located outside New Orleans in Slidell,
Louisiana. This B & B is a private house (circa 1905) in a
serene and romantic setting amid 10 acres of bayou woodlands.
Ancient live oaks, magnolias, tung oil and pine trees abound.
The grounds are landscaped with huge azaleas, camellias, and gardenias.
There are many things for our guests to do in the New Orleans
area, but there are many relaxing and enjoyable things that they
can do without leaving the grounds of the Garden Guest House.
Bird watching; wandering and exploring the meandering nature trails
through the acres of woods; sitting on one of the swings or benches
smelling the fragrances of honeysuckle, jasmine, or gardenias;
relaxing on one of the large decks sipping wine on a moon lit
night; reading a book or magazine from the B & B library while
lounging in one of the living rooms with floor to ceiling glass
walls; laughing around an antique table at a reunion of old friends;
browsing the art galleries of the historic old town centers of
Slidell and Covington.
Your
hosts welcome tours of the antiques and art work in the main house.
Paul and Bonnie can also suggest great places to do antique shopping
and wonderful restaurants in the area. Paul and Bonnie love sharing
their 1800 square foot greenhouse, rose arbor, fruit trees, and
hanging sculptures of exotic tropical plants. Guests who are interested
in a gardening experience can learn about indigenous plants, horticultural
methods, potting orchids, attachment techniques for hanging tropical
plants, as well as the designing and building of a home greenhouse.
Bird watchers delight in the vast number of birds attracted to
the many bird feeders carefully placed throughout the grounds
and near the guest house.
